3. Activities

Educational: Following the APP/ACP Conference held in Sept 2003, entitled " Mental Illness in Parents-The Effects on Children and Families", we are now planning a follow-up Conference. This may take place in early 2007; we are trying to join with the Adult Section of the APP, and the particular focus will be on ways of linking Child and Adult practice in the mental health area.

Psychoanalytic Family Therapy: The Committee is currently supporting the development of Psychoanalytic Family Therapy and the establishment of clinical seminars at Ealing Hospital. We meet ususally on the first Thursday of each month (it may be the second if it is too close to holiday times) between 8:30 and 10:00 pm. The Seminars are open to all, please contact Steve Isaacs for details ( 0208 922 4668 ).

4. Future Developments

The APP is aiming to increase the input into Training outside London. One proposal is that of running Roadshows which visit Regional Centres, say for half-day symposia on key issues ( violence and suicide are two of the suggested themes ), with the aim of promoting psycho-analytic thinking and understanding. Such an initiative would need following up. We are represented on the Steering Group that considers these Regional initiatives.
